The Triumphant Division 1B Team
The triumphant NHISC Poppadom team is:

Front row: Pinakin Patel, Kirit Limbachia (captain, manager) Chan Dullabh, Tarun Patel, Raj Patel,
Absent, Dwain Underwood, Kanti Limbachia, Pravin Kalidas, Nagin Dayal, Sunil Unka (our young gun).
The team won the Grand Final playoff for the Division 1 grade this year and was 2nd overall in the Round Robin competition. They were an inspiration to all players with their excellent skills, passing & teamwork.
The team has enjoyed hockey so much this year that they have entertained the Pukekohe Greenkeepers, Grammar Rovers, and teams from Tamaki and Wellington. They won all but the game against Grammar, in which they down 1-2.
NHISC Under-15 Panthers
In their final game the NHISC Panthers lost 0-3 to a highly polished Intermediate Hatch Cup Team (who came 3rd in their tournament, the day before!). Third place was also the final standing for our team in the Under-15 competition.
We will be looking to run a team in this grade early next season too, so of you know of any children keen to try out for our team contact Suresh Patel, Ph. 444-5551
10thAnniversary Function & Prize-giving
The positive comments we received on the night and afterwards were enough to make it all worthwhile and even more memorable.
For those of you who missed it, this was a night to remember. A spectacular setting; a candle-lit, silver service dinner; photographs and memorabilia of all sorts of half-forgotten faces & encounters; video footage from yesteryear; the large gathering of people from the past, the present (and even of some for the future); lively banter; gossip; music; plate-smashing; entertaining speeches. The night had it all!
To cap it off there was our Prize-giving, souped up with a host of new awards. These went to . . .

Summer Sports
Well summer is here at long last (its not raining as hard as winter) and so too are summer sports most of our players branching out into hockey, either on the shore or city side. Unfortunately due to the high demand NHISC did not get a placing for the first part of the season at Rosedale, so hockey for them will begin on the 24th January 1999 and go till the 3rd of March 99.
A mixed team of D1B players and Takapuna have entered a hockey team for Masters Hockey on the shore.
Kirit Limbachia has entered a one-day 9th grade cricket team to play under Birkenhead Cricket Club. Lets see if they can do that magic at cricket as well
